Rangers will face Liverpool at Ibrox in a friendly a week before the new Scottish Premier League campaign gets under way.The match will take place on Saturday August 2, with a 3pm kick-off, and follows last year's high-profile visit of Chelsea.

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain said: "We are pleased to confirm Liverpool will be heading to Ibrox as part of our pre-season programme in early August.

"Like Rangers, they are a club with a rich history and tradition and I know our fans will enjoy watching players of the calibre of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres."

Rangers got the better of Chelsea last year, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Nacho Novo and Filip Sebo, and Walter Smith's side went on to win a domestic cup doand reach the UEFA Cup final.

Bain said: "We enjoyed a terrific game with Chelsea last pre-season and Liverpool will provide another great test for Walter and his players as they prepare for the new campaign."

  1. We're still missing an attacking midfielder. A playmaker so to speak. Someone who can create something out of nothing. Alot of our goals were pretty straight forward. A Brazilian would sort that out. I say we go for Ronaldinho(Only kidding).
