Striker Nuno Gomes wished Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari well for his new "adventure" after Portugal bowed out of Euro 2008 on Thursday.Scolari's side lost 3-2 to Germany in their quarter-final in Basle to bring his tenure to an inglorious conclusion.
It was not an idyllic farewell to the Brazilian boss but Gomes, captain for the night, said on ITV: "Yes, but that's football.
"Scolari goes on to another adventure now and we wish him good luck."
Bastian Schweinsteiger swept home the opener in the 22nd minute before whipping in two great free-kicks to lay goals on a plate for Miroslav Klose, four minutes later, and Michael Ballack just after the hour mark.
Germany skipper Ballack felt his side justified their last-four slot. He told ITV Sport: "We started very well. We changed the system a bit with five in midfield and one striker less, we were very compact.
"Especially in the first half I thought we played fantastically against a very strong Portugal team until now. I think we deserved it."

Portugal played the wrong formation. They should have played Ronaldo up front , as all defenders are worried of him.But that is football.
Germany will not have it easy from now on.
Portugal played exciting flowing football as opposed to boring and plodding German football. However, their defending let them down especially in the set pieces. Klose should not have been given space to head (it wasn't a clean header as it hit his head and shoulder) and Ricardo should have come out to punch the ball that Ballack went for (3rd goal). But the ref should have seen Ballack push the defender out of the way to head that goal. I still think Portugal is one of the most scintillating teams to watch. We'll be back for the World cup finals in 2010! :)
THE PORTUGUESE DEFENCE WAS NOT GOOD AND EASY GOALS WERE GIVEN AND PORTUGUESE PLAYERS WERE ALSO BIT NERVOUS AT THE START. BUT I STILL BELEIVE THAT PORTUGAL SHOWED TALENT IN THE EURO, RONALDO BEST IN THE WORLD!! WE WILL WIN NEXT TIME, FORCA PORTUGAL!!
