Luton have confirmed that officials from the club's LTFC2020 takeover consortium have held a 'progress meeting' with the Football League. The Hatters were plunged into administration in November 2007 but were rescued from financial ruin after the LTFC2020 group agreed to complete a takeover of the club in January. Now the consortium admit they are fully supportive of the League's governing body as they consider the club's financial situation and long-term future.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Remembering that Luton Town is now in its third administration, it is understandable that the Football League realise that this really is 'last chance saloon' for our club.
"Therefore they are considering our application in more rigorous detail than ever before, which we fully support for all club takeovers.
"Our continued immediate focus is to ensure that we reach the right conclusion: getting out of administration, properly funded, with the support of the Football League and, most importantly, with a long-term future - a future which was in doubt just eight months ago.
"LTFC2020 request that all fans remain patient as this process continues. Meetings are ongoing and further details will be released as soon as practicably possible."
