Premier League - Zola reveals Jimenez interest

West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola is hopeful of signing Chilean midfielder Luis Jimenez from Serie A champions Internazionale.

"Let's hope (we can sign Jimenez)," Zola told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "He is one of those lads who play the way I like.

"It's not easy to sign non-EU players in England but I think these problems can be solved."

Inter signed Jimenez on a co-ownership deal with third-tier side Ternana after the winger spent a successful first season on loan in Milan, scoring three times in 15 Serie A appearances as well as netting in the Champions League against Fenerbahce.

However, the Chilean played around half that number of games as his season was disrupted by injury.

The Hammers' squad is short on attackers after Zola decided against renewing the loan of David di Michele from Torino or offering Diego Tristan a permanent deal.
