Broadfoot calm over future

Kirk Broadfoot is confident he will still be a Rangers player next season despite uncertainty over his Ibrox future.

The 24-year-old's agent has been trying to secure an improved deal for the Scotland full-back, whose current contract expires in a year's time and though a new deal has so far not been forthcoming - reportedly due to Rangers' financial problems - he is confident he has not played his last game for the club.

He said: "I get the feeling that I'm wanted here. I've been told that. I don't see me moving in the near future."

Broadfoot had established himself as the first-choice right-back at Ibrox before being sidelined three months ago by a foot injury and is expected to be out until November after undergoing surgery.

"After rehab, hopefully I can get fit and strong enough to push for a starting place again. That's what I'm looking forward to," said Broadfoot, who refused to put a timescale on his recovery but is desperate to play a part in Rangers' Champions League campaign

"It just depends on how quickly and well my rehab goes.

"Every player wants to play in the Champions League and it's great for a club like Rangers to be back in it.

"From a player's point of view, it's the biggest stage you can play at in club football.

"Just now, it's just about resting really. I'm about a month into it - it's three months without any weight bearing.

"After that, my rehab will start but for the moment I'm sitting about, keeping it elevated and keeping myself occupied."
