New Celtic coach Peter Grant insists a strong mentality, rather than ability, will be the number one attribute required by potential Parkhead recruits this summer.
Grant will form part of the new management team at his former club along with boss Tony Mowbray and his assistant Mark Venus, and his experience - where he had the best part of 15 years in the Celtic midfield in the 1980s and 1990s - means he is well aware of the main characteristic needed by anyone who pulls on a green and white hooped shirt.
"Ability is a massive part of it but if you don't have the mentality to play for Celtic - or Rangers - you don't have a hope in hell," he said. "That's a fact because demands are second only to Manchester United. Mentality is the biggest thing. That is what I learned when I went to England."
He added: "I used to wonder why so many players came to Celtic and Rangers and really suffered. It wasn't because of their ability but they didn't understand that it is 24/7 up here, there is no switching off as a Celtic or Rangers player.
"Celtic have got to win every game. There is no saying, 'We have to do this or what we have to do that' - we have to win every game and we have to try to play well every game.
"That is the nature of the beast and it is only when I went to England I realised that.
"Outwith Manchester, there are no bigger clubs.
"If Celtic and Rangers were in England then there is no doubt that they would be challenging the Manchester Uniteds of this world within four or five years."

I live in Manchester and I dont get all this pish that they are the biggest in the world - Their fans aren't fanatical and they are like a funeral parlour at home - 75,000 or not. If they had little success for the next 3 years, the gates would drop by 30,000 because they are fair weather fans. Like Abbot said, if they were playing motherwell, falkirk, St, Johnstone (I'm not slagging them off, but teams with -10,000 fans) would they even bother to show up? Celtic F.C. are a bigger Family and true fans. To be honest, i think the only fans that come close to Celtic fans are Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham down here... At least they can all have a drink and a laugh.
Oh and DavidC, you nead to lay off the double Meths...
Been on the San Miguel tonight boys so excuse my absence. Sláinte!
