Grayson plans Beckford replacement

Fri, 19 Jun 13:44:29 2009

Simon Grayson knows who he wants to replace Jermaine Beckford if the Leeds striker leaves Elland Road in the summer.

Beckford, 25, who has scored 54 goals in his last two seasons for Leeds, has refused to sign a new extended contract, but still has a year to run on his current deal.

Grayson said: "Jermaine could still be a part of pre-season. As the chairman has said, there's been a few enquiries for him, but no bids.

"At this stage it's quiet, people have been away and people are looking around, but before we start pre-season things might happen."

Grayson added: "I've got players in my head who I think can replace him if he goes. But I'm not going to be doing anything until we know what's happening.

"Football's all about ifs, buts, and maybes and we'll wait and see on this one."

  2. I agree with most of what you are saying marcharrison1979, but Snodgrass is excellent and getting better on the right! Also Bates will be spending more than £20 on wine to be with the wife-have you seen her? he ties a bone around her neck while he's out so the dog will play with her!

  3. Getting sick of the whole "will he or won't he go" we do not want him, period. We want a player(s) who want to be at the club. Get shut now whilst we can still get a few bob or he will just walk away of his own accord next year.

  4. Very very true about beckford. I'm sure there are loads of other strikers out there that are capable of repeating what he did last season and maybe even more. It's just that i doubt that bates will wanna spend more than £20 on one that's all, he'd much rather buy a bottle of wine for himself and the missus.

  6. I think we should buy another striker anyway, another one that's gonna get 30 goals a season would be nice. That'll give beckford something to think about. In fact we need strengthening everywhere! GK, Centre Back, Left Back, Right Back, we need a tought strong tackling midfielder (like Dacort or Batty) to free up Delf or Howson, we need a speedy set piece specialist on the right wing too! this squad cant get us promoted, we've more chance of getting sucked off by the pope, mark my words, they are not good enough, over 2 seasons they've proved it. I'm sick of ken bates trying to do everything on the cheap, he took over the club on the cheap, got rid of our debts on the cheap and he has built a squad on the cheap and it shows big time! me and my mates wont be going anywhere near elland road next season until i see him spend at least the 4 million that leeds made in profits last year. He looks like santa but he's the total opposite, what a tight ars'e!
