Hereford boss John Trewick has revealed that the door is still open for midfield duo Kris Taylor and Ben Smith.

Taylor has yet to sign a new contract after demanding higher wages, while Trewick has adopted a wait and see approach with Smith.

Trewick told the club's official website: "I made Kris an offer in early May and he said to me he wanted to sign. I wanted a strong indication of what he wanted to do and Kris came back to me asking for more money and I said I didn't feel comfortable with that and that's where we've left it.

"I've got an open mind about Kris, if he wants to come back and talk to me, we'll see what might happen but it's down to him."

On Smith, he added: "Ben wasn't offered a contract as such but what I did say was I wanted to leave the door open because I like Ben as a person and a player, the same as Kris but I'm here to do the best for the football club."
