Choi, Ripon And The Springboks

Sat 19 Jul, 01:09 PM

1200: Back in the car, the tripometer for the competition reads zero, and I still have Girls Aloud tunes running through my head. They were surprisingly good at Newmarket and one of them can actually sing.

So off I head to Ripon - but not before a quick bet on Ian Poulter to win his two-ball today and Australia to beat South Africa by 1-12 points in the Tri-Nations match.

Things are busy in the office and we have a host of specials for the Skybet Supporting Yorkshire Racing Festival Handicap at 3.30.

There is money for Soviet Rhythm in the first, I have yet to find one drawn high (which is a must) I like in the seller while I am with Hurlingham in our race.

We are betting to a 110% in the 4.00 and I like Luca Cumani's Celt there while in the last our 1% per runner offer means we are laying five or six at big prices.

All in all it promises to be a busy old afternoon.

In between the races I will be keeping an anxious eye on KJ Choi's progress at the Open - having backed him at 80/1 pre-tournamnet.

In addition I have to wine and dine our special guest at Ripon Claire King. It is a tough job but someone has to do it.
