Lake Windermere was given a scare before justifying favouritism in division two of the Lettergold Maiden Stakes at Newmarket.
Sent off at 1/2, John Gosden's charge looked to be in trouble at the furlong pole as Spotty Muldoon (6/1) came through to challenge.
However the winner, given a forceful ride by Jimmy Fortune, responded to her rider's urgings and forged clear to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
A career in the paddocks beckons for the winner who fetched 200,000 guineas a yearling.
The runner-up shaped with plenty of promise and pulled four-and-a-half lengths clear of Harryana Jo (50/1) in third.
