Premier League - Villanueva to join Blackburn

Chile international midfielder Carlos Villanueva is to join English Premier League Blackburn Rovers, according to his club Audax Italiano.

"The directors of Audax Italiano informed that this morning they reached a complete agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Carlos Villanueva for the 2008/09 season," the club said on its website.

Audax Italiano president Valentin Cantergiani added: "It will be completed next week. There are some details to finalise, but there is an agreement with Blackburn Rovers."

Villanueva, 22, agreed terms with Spain's Real Sociedad in May but the deal fell through.

He began his career with Deportes La Serena in the second division in 2003 and helped them win promotion before joining Audax in 2004.

Villanueva made his international debut in 2007 in the Copa America match against Ecuador and scored the decisive goal in a 3-2 win with a last-minute free-kick.

  4. didier drogba is @#$% he just rolls around on the floor most of the time and when he does score he thinks he is god i hope drogba leaves chelski as i hate watching the big oaf! rovers all the way never heard of this lad either but he will be better than drogba the dog
