Kevin Blackwell insists Chris Morgan is not necessarily ruled out of Sheffield United's match with Blackpool at the weekend. The Blades captain was withdrawn 34 minutes into Saturday's 3-0 win over QPR suffering from concussion, but his manager will wait for the neurosurgeon's judgement before excluding Morgan.
Football League rules stipulate that any player knocked out on the field of play must spend 10 days on the sidelines.
"Chris was concussed and he couldn't remember what had happened for about 25 minutes," boss Blackwell told the Sheffield Star.
"The neurosurgeon might include his black-out as a knock-out and, if that's the case, then obviously we'll be without him.
"The rules say that anyone who is knocked out cannot be considered for selection so we'll just have to see. His safety is paramount to us."
