Forest boss: Perch can make impact

Tue 19 Aug, 01:01 PM

Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood believes James Perch can play a crucial role in the Reds midfield this season.Perch was earmarked as the club's first choice right-back only 12 months ago but scored his first goal of the season when he lined up alongside Guy Moussi in the centre of Forest's midfield during Saturdays 3-1 defeat at Swansea.

Calderwood told the Nottingham Evening Post: "We know he can play in defence or midfield but he has slotted into the centre of the park well.

"He will play anywhere and will be fully committed, and when he does play in midfield he looks as though he will score.

"It augers well for the future for us that he is so flexible, but we don't want that to be detriment to him."
