Graham hopes goals silence critics

Tue 19 Aug, 01:00 PM

Carlisle striker Danny Graham is hopeful that his brace against Crewe on Saturday will go some way to "shutting up" his many critics. The big frontman bagged his first goals of the season against Alexandra to relieve some of the pressure built up following a fruitless pre-season campaign.

"I want league and cup goals, not pre-season goals," Graham told the News & Star. "Pre-season is about match-fitness and getting your sharpness back.

"Anyway, I've got two in three now so hopefully that might shut a few people up."

Despite his double in the League One clash at Brunton Park, the former Middlesbrough man was left disappointed he did not claim a memorable hat-trick.

"It was disappointing not to get the third but it was pleasing to get off the mark all the same - and more importantly the team has made a good start to the season," he added.
