Preston midfielder Barry Nicholson admits his preferred position is in the middle of the park but says he is happy to play out wide.Nicholson has quickly acclimatised to life in the Championship following his summer move from Aberdeen on a Bosman transfer.
He opened his account in Saturday's win over Crystal Palace but played on the right rather than in the middle, where his passing style has been likened to Manchester United playmaker Paul Scholes.
Nicholson said: "If I'm anywhere near to Paul Scholes I'll be doing well but I want to play in the centre of midfield and the manager knows that.
"He's not playing me as a winger but I'm playing on the right-hand side and he wants me to come and play in little holes and get on the ball.
"If I'm playing in the side every week then I'm pretty happy."
