Pilgrims boss up for the challenge

Tue 19 Aug, 01:01 PM

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock insists he is excited by the challenge of making progress with his much-changed squad.Argyle host newly promoted Swansea in the Championship on Saturday looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at promotion-hopefuls Reading.

Sturrock admitted: "It's very interesting because we all came home (from Reading) doom and gloom. I have actually studied the tapes (of the game) several times and there's an awful lot of things that we are going to have to get right but we are going in the right direction.

"I was trying to work out the man hours I have had with this group of players since pre-season and for some of them it has been eight weeks but others it has been a week.

"Now I have to gel things together and start winning football matches.

"Funnily enough I am quite excited by the challenge - in fact very excited by the challenge - because it is like a breath of fresh air to me because it's a difficult scenario but it's the kind of thing that I like to get my teeth into."
