Tue 19 Aug, 01:01 PM

Stoke have sealed the signing of defender Andrew Davies from Southampton for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £1.5million.Davies has agreed a four-year contract at the Britannia Stadium after undergoing a medical on Monday.

He joins Dave Kitson, Seyi Olofinjana, Amdy Faye, Thomas Sorensen and Abdoulaye Faye as new signings for the Potters.

City had been keen to improve their defensive options and expect Davies to make an impact in Tony Pulis' plans.

"Andy comes to us with considerable Premier League experience for a player of his age," chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website.

"He is our sixth signing of the summer and another valuable addition to Tony Pulis' squad."

Davies only joined Saints from Middlesbrough last October, originally on loan, and made 25 appearances during his time at St Mary's.

The 23-year-old had not featured under new Southampton boss Jan Poortvliet after undergoing a knee operation over the summer.
