Quakers closing in on new capture

Tue 19 Aug, 01:01 PM

Darlington boss Dave Penney is confident of adding another new face to his squad after revealing a deal for an unnamed player is quite close.Although Penney remains tight lipped on the identity of his target it is expected that Franz Burgmeier will join the Quakers on a one-year contract.

The Liechtenstein international has attended a number of training sessions with Penny's side and was in the stands for the Carling Cup win at Walsall last week.

"Hopefully we'll be bringing someone in," Penney told the Northern Echo.

"We're quite close and his name might be a surprise to some people when they hear where he has come from.

"We always keep things close to our chest. We don't tell anybody who we're bringing in or where they are from as that can lead to disappointment if it doesn't come off."
