Striker John Carew believes the lack of big egos at Aston Villa can help drive the club to even greater success this season. The Villa forward, who last week penned a new three-year deal, has been impressed with the team bond and unity that has been built under Martin O'Neill.
It is in contrast to some of the personal battles that Carew has witnessed during his past career which has included spells at Valencia, Roma, Besiktas and Lyon.
The Norwegian international said: "This is a great group of players who are not depending on individuals but who are depending on being a team. Everyone takes care of each other.
"When I was at clubs fighting for the Champions League and titles, there were lots of superstars and it could be a problem sometimes with personal interests and everyone having their own agenda.
"I can understand that because there is so much written about you that it can easily go to people's heads sometimes. Teams don't always depend on being a unit but the group here is close knit and that's why I really like it."
