Sweeney: Pools can bounce back

Tue 19 Aug, 05:45 PM

Hartlepool's Tony Sweeney believes the side will bounce-back from defeat at Tranmere when they return to Victoria Park to face Stockport.Pools eased past Colchester in their opening match of the season at home and then disposed of Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup but were found wanting when they made the trip to Prenton Park.

They face newly-promoted Stockport on Saturday and Sweeney is sure they will find the form that saw them reign victorious in their opening two games.

He told the Peterlee Mail: "Our home form has been alright over the last few seasons and we have scored plenty of goals.

"The fans who went to the first two games will tell you that we played some pretty good football.

"If we can keep them out at the other end there is no reason why we can't go on to win the game."
