Rosicky Clarifies Comments

Tue 19 Aug, 02:09 PM

Tomas Rosicky maintains Arsenal are all "in it together" following reports he had criticised team-mates William Gallas and Gael Clichy.

The Czech winger feels his comments regarding last season's dramatic 2-2 draw at Birmingham - where Arsenal lost striker Eduardo to an horrific broken leg, Clichy gave away a last-gasp penalty and captain Gallas broke down in tears - had been misinterpreted.

Rosicky, who is currently recovering from a hamstring problem, insists the squad are united in their quest to bring honours to the Emirates Stadium.

In a statement on the club's official website, www.arsenal.com, Rosicky said: "I would never blame individuals for the team not lifting a trophy. We are in it together. We win as a team and we lose as a team.

"As individuals, we all make mistakes and the message I was relaying to a Czech newspaper was that we are more experienced now and have learnt from last season.

"We came so close last year to winning something and we will be giving it our all to win a trophy this year."

  1. Interesting that Rosicky should now be reported as making critical observations to the press about some of the Arsenal players who actually contributed to the team's performances in the second half of the season, when he was conspicuous by his absence.

With Nasri already looking a better - and tougher - prospect than little Tomas ever did, Walcott establishing himself and Fabregas back soon, I wonder if the dud Czech is wondering how he is going to get back in the side, and preparing for a snidey side door exit a la Flamini/Hleb - always assuming he deigns to recover from an injury that Wenger doesn't appear wholly to believe in.

If he wasn't still alive Tony Adams would be turning in his grave.

    What price loyalty these days?

    Maybe we should ask Adebayor.

How long before we hear the chants of

" Adebayor, Adebayor - or -or.
    Don't give 'im the money,
    'Cos 'e can't score ! "

  3. Yes, Gallas reacted unprofessionally, but who would'nt given that situation. He made a mistake and apologized. I still don't understand why people critisize him for crying. It is past and done. Apart from that game vs Birmingham, i though he was a good captain and a solid, consistant defender. Those who blame Clichy are absolutly IDIOTS!! He and Sagna were the BEST and most HARDWORKING players players for Arsenal. : GUNNER FOR LIFE!!!

  5. I find it quite amusing how fans of a club so easily criticize players for one mistake when throughout the rest of the season they have done wonders.
Clichy has filled in Ashley Coles shoes has has contributed with so many assists with his runs down the wing.
Gallas came up with so many important goals last season. Yes, he acted like a spolit baby after the Birmingham defeat but he knew how much that defeat would cost them and that they'd essentially blew their title challenge.
Point being, you can't blame last season's short comings on those two players. Without their contributions Arsenal wouldn't have even been challenging and would have instead finished where their squad strength and quality deserved, 4th place.

  6. Gallas was wrong the way he acted, he was annoyed but acted unprofessionally and was not a good example as captain, I hope he has learnt not to repeat this type of behaviour as captain of The Arsenal. Clichy was slack and foolish to give the Brummie the chance to take a dive in the area for the pen, which he duly did even though the replays show Gael never actually touched him. The game was the turning point last season with the late penalty and Eduardo's injury and we never recovered. We were clear at the top and it was in our hands to lose it at the time, which we did. If Rosicky said what is reported he should learn to keep it to himself. He was absent too much last season to be entitled to criticise. He has the skill but needs to proove he has got what it takes to be a winner and is not just a sick note on a big salary.

  7. I'm not sure if Rosicky criticized Gallas or Glichy, but if he did I think that's fair. Because both Clichy and Gallas were responsible for the start of our downfall during the game against Birmingham, Clichy made that stupid mistake that cost us a penalty and the win and also Gallas for acting like a moron after the game. After that we couldn't do anything right and pretty much threw away the title.
