Awzaan retained his unbeaten record with a taking display in the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, while up in Scotland Jimmy Styles landed the Ayr Gold Cup under Frankie Dettori.
Brian Meehan's Radiohead was sent off a short-priced favourite following his excellent effort in the Nunthorpe and looked like obliging when cruising into contention at the two-furlong pole under Jamie Spencer.
Radiohead briefly hit the front, but Richard Hills brought Awzaan through with a withering run on the stands' side and quickly put the race to bed.
Angel's Pursuit ran one well to take second, but Mark Johnston's Awzaan was always in control of the Group Two contest and won with plenty in hand.
Radiohead weakened tamely, suggesting a return to five furlongs is required.
Hills went on to follow-up his victory on Awzaan when taking the John Smith's Handicap aboard Almiqdaad. Hills made his move with three furlongs to run and Michael Jarvis' charge stayed on gamely all the way to the line.
Dettori made the long trek north of the border and it proved a worthwhile one as Jimmy Styles landed the feature Ayr Gold Cup.
Those drawn high might as well have stayed at home, as the sprint races were dominated by low numbers and Clive Cox's charge came out on top in a tight battle with Barney McGrew.
Dettori was drawn in 15 and made the sensible decision to head left and join those drawn low. He brought his mount with a strong run to collar Barney McGrew in the shadow of the post.
Knot In Wood and favourite Evens And Odds filled the minor places, with the first five home all drawn low.
The Ayr Silver Cup went the way of Rihard Fahey's Kaldoun Kingdom, who came good after a string of near misses this term. Barry McHugh brought the four-year-old through with well-timed run on the favoured far side to score from Lowther.
