Late McCann strike ends Robins run

Grant McCann's stoppage-time goal gave Scunthorpe a well-earned 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate as they ended Bristol City's 100% home record.

The Northern Ireland international, a 67th-minute substitute, saw his 92nd-minute effort beat Adriano Basso in the City goal to extend the Iron's unbeaten run to three games after it had looked as though Alvaro Saborio's first goal in English football had given the Robins a fourth straight win on home soil.

The Costa Rica international was in the right place at the right time five minutes after the restart to help City extend their unbeaten home run to 15 games, but they were unable to take all three points thanks to McCann's late intervention.

Scunthorpe were impressive in the first half and Basso did well to keep out Martyn Woolford's header, while Paul Hayes should have done better from close range.

But City went ahead after the break when Saborio capitalised on a lucky bounce off the back off Josh Wright to power them into the lead.

But the Iron refused to give up and, even though they finished with 10 men after Gary Hooper's injury, McCann prodded home to score after Wright's free-kick fell kindly for him.
