Premier League - West Ham claim first point

Scott Parker opened the scoring with his third goal of the season to fire the Hammers into the lead for the first time this season in the league, only for that lead to be rubbed out soon after half-time by Kenwyne Jones.
The Hammers finally claimed their first point of the season after five matches, but they will remain rooted to the bottom of the table regardless of the weekend's other results.
With manager Avram Grant absent as he observed the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, coaches Paul Groves and Kevin Keen took charge of a Hammer side desperate to got off the mark for the campaign.
The visitors looked comfortable on the ball without ever really threatening the Stoke goal in the opening 20 minutes, but they were vulnerable from Stoke's trademark set pieces.
Soon afterwards another Pennant cross from a similar position went through the wall to the feet of Jones, but the striker could only slice his effort high and wide.
Just after the half-hour mark, West Ham took the lead when Victor Obinna's free-kick from near the byline caused havoc in the Stoke box. Danny Gabbidon's header was blocked on the line but Parker was on hand to fire in the rebound.
They could have two up moments later when Frederic Piquionne lined up a strike from the edge of the box and saw his shot crash off the crossbar.
Jones had a great chance to level as half-time approached, but sent his close-range header from a Delap throw over the bar.
The Trinidad and Tobago striker made amends soon after the break with his second goal in a week. Huth played the ball down the channel to Pennant, and the former Zaragoza winger played in a decent first-time cross for Jones to head past the indecisive Green at the far post.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis brought forwards Ricardo Fuller and debutant Eidur Gudjohnsen off the bench, and it was the former who almost grabbed a winner for the Potters when his downward header from another Delap throw bounces up and off the bar - the eighth time the Hammers have been saved by the woodwork already this season.
Parker lashed a strike wide and Matthew Etherington forced Green to tip over the bar as both sides pushed for a late winner, but the first draw between these two sides in the Premier League was ultimately a fair result.
