Provisional 2010 IRC Calendar Revealed

Mon, 19 Oct 20:09:26 2009

Next year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge will provisionally feature twelve rounds, including maiden visits to Argentina and Cyprus. The 2010 championship should therefore count one rally more than the 2009 season.

Three choice destinations which formed part of this year's World Rally Championship will switch to the IRC in 2010: Argentina, Sardinia, and Cyprus.

Two events which saw IRC competition this year are no longer included on the 2010 calendar: the Safari Rally and Rally Russia. This year's round in Japan was cancelled, and the country no longer appears on the new draft calendar.

Six rallies are to be run on asphalt, four are gravel-based, and two are expected to feature mixed-surface itineraries. Some destinations are still awaiting confirmation due to ongoing talks.

The 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge will begin with Rally Monte Carlo on January 20th, and end with Rally Cyprus on November 6th.
