Wigan boss Roberto Martinez was proud of his side's efforts after they earned a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the DW Stadium.
Charles N'Zogbia opened the scoring for the Latics on the stroke of half-time, but the visitors equalised almost immediately after the interval through Martin Petrov.
City full-back Pablo Zabaleta was dismissed for a second bookable offence 25 minutes from time, but although Wigan pressed forward they were unable to find a winner.
Despite this, an upbeat Martinez said: "I would say the performance was well worth a victory.
"Manchester City are an outstanding team with a fabulous group of players. Our performance deserved the three points."

I can honestly say I thought we would of got hammered what with Hughes massive spending 100 million compared to our 10 million squad.
I watched the first half but had to go to work.
With what I watched Wigan were more than a match for city.
It just goes to show you can spend all the money in the world and still not have the deserved success for what you have spent.
You have to have a team with passion of which Martinez has.
The result was a good one but now we need to focus on Burnley they are a hard team and doing really well up to now.
i was well pleased with the way he has got wigan playing, nice to watch, some lovely passing moves and got right in citys faces.as in the past we have given teams to much respect and stood off them giving them way to much room to operate .definately as mark hughes said wigan will win far more matches at home than they will lose,so lets get the away form ticking over as well, and who knows how high we can go.good on you roberto and all the lads in the team.and all the supporters for getting behind them
Good Game Wigan..............! What about extending some players contracts before January as Roberto has worked hard to get these lads ticking and they need a to be settled & consitent , DW must realise this- There are premiership teams starting to extend players contracts to prevent the january smash and grab.................!
city were lucky with all their millions they couldn`t beat a team who didn`t cost what they paid for their diving cheating centre forward, just goes to show you can`t buy results, unless your man u and you pay the ref
Good game!
Wigan perhaps deserved another goal for all their attacking play after Zabaleta was sent off but City should have had a penalty, so a draw was the correct result.
