Exeter boss Paul Tisdale is preparing his side for Saturday's home game with Wycombe heartened by an improved performance despite the 3-0 defeat at Walsall.

City had lost 4-0 the week before at Huddersfield and Tisdale demanded a response.

He said: "Our performance at Walsall at times was excellent and I am very proud of them. I feel quite fine with last week's work and the performance we put in.

"That is as much as you can ask for. I asked for a performance and we got a terrific performance. You have to take the rough with the smooth.

"The players have probably earned themselves a bit of trust with each other and that is important.

"Any combination of team would have done well because they were as motivated and determined as they could have been."
