Premier League - Wenger confirms Walcott blow

Eurosport - Wed, 19 Nov 23:41:00 2008

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott will be sidelined for at least three months with a shoulder injury.

FOOTBALL Arsenal Theo Walcott - 0

The 19-year-old forward picked up the injury in Berlin during England's training session ahead of their 2-1 international friendly win over Germany.

While commentating on France's 0-0 draw tih Uruguay for French TV channel TF1, Wenger said: "[Theo] dislocated his shoulder during training, he will be out for at least three months."

Walcott was taken to hospital in agony after suffering the dislocation in a freak accident as he fell in the rain at the Olympiastadion.

Although Walcott's shoulder was quickly put back into place, the player was in understandable discomfort when he returned to England's team hotel, where an assessment was made over his return to London.

"We are all very disappointed but the important thing is for Theo to travel home and make a quick recovery," England manager Fabio Capello said.

Walcott has suffered injuries to his shoulder before and is expected to do so throughout his career.

  4. wenger can not say anything about this injury as it happened 2 weeks ago, when theo was stretchered off with a right shoulder injury. when arsenal lost all thier 3 strikers 2 injured one sent off.
So the injury was first done in that game and i bet whinger starts complaining but if his medical staff where any good they would not have let him play the following week and rested him untill the injury had been checked out which it couldnt have been to happen again so quickly.

  5. I cant believe Wenger and the other Prem bosses, All international games are important. They are about experimenting and finding your best team. And for a trained athlete that gets paid 50,60,70 grand a week, im sure they can play more than one game in a week. Their views are a joke.

  8. I am no Arsenal supporter but I don't need a ruler and a compass to realise that Walcott is a very good player with potential to become great. Those who say he is rubbish either they need prescription glasses or they are pathetic supporters of other teams. The guy he has already delivered in Arsenal and England at this age of 19. As per the injury, it cannot be blamed on England because the fall was accidental and in training. it could have happened in Arsenal training instead. Wenger is stupid saying that his players need the rest instead of the international friendly, because if they cancelled the international friendly there would have been EPL games instead so his stars would not have the rest in any case, unless they have an English B team friendly just to please Wenger.

  20. Walcots injury is a direct result of foul play and thuggery and still idiots like Paul Parker are paid a small fortune to make stupid comments such as it was not a foul that injured him it was because he fell over, it's a contact sport not a kicking contest, kick deliberate foul play out of football
