Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott will be sidelined for at least three months with a shoulder injury.
The 19-year-old forward picked up the injury in Berlin during England's training session ahead of their 2-1 international friendly win over Germany.
While commentating on France's 0-0 draw tih Uruguay for French TV channel TF1, Wenger said: "[Theo] dislocated his shoulder during training, he will be out for at least three months."
Walcott was taken to hospital in agony after suffering the dislocation in a freak accident as he fell in the rain at the Olympiastadion.
Although Walcott's shoulder was quickly put back into place, the player was in understandable discomfort when he returned to England's team hotel, where an assessment was made over his return to London.
"We are all very disappointed but the important thing is for Theo to travel home and make a quick recovery," England manager Fabio Capello said.
Walcott has suffered injuries to his shoulder before and is expected to do so throughout his career.

WALCOTT IS TRUELY A RUBBISH PLAYER, TRUE SAY HE SCORED A FEW GOALS, BUT ANYONE COULD OF SCORED THEM, THEY WERE NOTHING SPECIAL, THIS IS WHY ENGLISH SPORT FAILS, UR FACE HAS TO FIT, ITS ALL ABT FAVOURATISM AND FRIENDSHIPS AND NOT ABT TALENT AND MERIT.
if these are the best english players we have such as rooney lampard terry ferdinand gerrard what goal keeper then it is a sad day for foot ball dont you remember when a player could dribble a ball who can in the england team name one
11 players aint the team - good luck to the subs take your chances guys. I think we can still win prides at stake 3-1 to England
Better give an early release then Joey Barton :-)
Es muss sehr traurig ein Englaender zu sein an den abend vor die Englische Pub XI die Deutsche Fussball manschaft spielen, so total hofnungs loss zu sein kann ich kaum fasssen :-)
Come on England!!! Kill the Germans!!! THERE WERE NO GERMAN BOMBERS IN THE AIR!!!
hmmm it his shoulder not his ankle im sure he will muddle through
I wonder who's going to watch this game. probably Germans who anticipate a slaughter. This game is becoming a pointless exercise and should be abandoned. This is not England playing but a makeshift excuse for a team just to keep the flag flying on the international scene. No-one really gives a s**t any more.
why are these players training instead of resting the night before the big match. They are match fit and need to relax one night before big game. Asking for trouble if you ask me.
Where a person under 21 dislocates their shoulder there is a 90% chance that they will dislocate it again unless surgery is carried out - my son suffered 10 dislocations in the year after dislocation at school sports. It is imperative that any necessary surgery such as rotator cuff repairs (open Bankart) be carried out now or Theo will, like Hameur Bouazza now, or Bryan Robson in the past, suffer dislocation after dislocation. At 59 I suffered a dislocation of BOTH shoulders (down to stupidity) and physio and weight lifting manages it - but it won't for a teenager - operate NOW...
Ahh.. I remember it only starting with Gerrard and Lampard, and thougt that it ain't such a big deal but this is becoming pathetic. It's a worthy friedlty ffs. You don't play Germany too often, do you? I'm curious, what line-up will Loew throw in?
the england players are just scared of germany so they are pulling fake ijuries so they dont have to be soar losers but they are also lettong th cpuntry let that be on their concience.
what you will notice is that all 3 utd players actually missed last saturdays games with these 'fake' injuries tooo!!!! unlike other players who play sat miss England games wednesday then suddenly fit again for Sat...wonder why the media/England training staff are questioning it??
Might as well not turn up for this one. At least there will be the chance to try a few. This is very reminiscent of Wales a few years ago when Giggsy and a few others pulled out of friendlies. Whilst it is not very patriotic Barnesjohn 23 sums up the enthusiasm for internationals at this time by the fans of the clubs. However, no use moaning when we are stuffed in the WC. Rooney will never get there anyway. Someone will crock him about 6 weeks before
2-2 will be draw!!!!!
Bemt will score! cmon England!
send in the under 21s kill the geermans
