McCarthy: Festive period is vital

Wed 19 Dec, 03:15 PM

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy believes the Christmas period will play a major role in shaping their season.Wanderers, who currently lie sixth in the Championship, face Leicester, Hull, Norwich and Sheffield United in the space of 10 days in a hectic festive schedule.

He told the club's official website: "It's an important spell to us because there are so many points available in such a short space of time.

"If you end up with 12 points then wonderful. Of course I'm not suggesting that's what we'll get but that's what we'll be trying to get.

"Christmas is a time which tends to rejig the league a little bit so the more points we can get the better.

"They'll be four tough games but there'll be no manager in this division saying anything different."
