Penney eager to end Imps' run

Wed 19 Dec, 01:15 PM

Manager Dave Penney is adamant Darlington can end Lincoln's revival this weekend when they return to action after an enforced two-week break.Back-to-back postponed games against Morecambe and Chester have left the Quakers off the pace at the top of League Two and eight points adrift of leaders MK Dons.

But Penney's men travel to Sincil Bank - where new manager Peter Jackson has masterminded an upturn in results - off the back of an unbeaten home league record and a string of eye-catching results on their travels.

"I think Lincoln have won three out of four in the league and the change of manager has worked in that respect," said Penney. "They had a good result last weekend (a 4-1 home win over Barnet) and we'll have to be on our toes and show the same respect we show every team.

"But we're doing well - we won the last away game 4-0 at Grimsby. We've also scored three at Accrington and three at Dagenham, so we go and try and win games when we go away from home and that will be no different on Saturday."

On the possible fixture pile-up caused by the double-header of postponements, Penney added: "We could have a fixture pile-up. The fixtures will be re-arranged for the New Year and that's something we'll have to deal with."
