Ferguson Plans Berbatov Swoop

Wed 19 Dec, 12:09 PM

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly stepped up his efforts to sign Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Ferguson is thought to want to swoop for the striker in January and is prepared to offer Wes Brown and Louis Saha - plus £6million in exchange, according to the Daily Mirror.

Manchester United failed with an initial bid for the Bulgaria international striker in the summer, however they are now hoping that Berbatov's recent unrest at White Hart Lane will make any potential move easier to negotiate.

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos, however, is thought to want Portuguese winger Nani, who moved to Old Trafford in the summer for £17million from Sporting Lisbon, in exchange for the former Bayer Leverkusen striker.

However, Ferguson is not willing to let the 20-year-old leave the Premier League champions and will not include him as part of any deal for Berbatov.
