English referee Howard Webb has been chosen by UEFA to officiate at Euro 2008.
The Premier League referee is one of 12 officials to be chosen for next summer's finals in Austria and Switzerland, and he will be assisted by Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey.2Should Webb do well in the group stage matches he is scheduled to take charge of, he may be selected to take part in the latter stages of the tournament and perhaps even the final in Vienna.3The other referee's who have been chosen are Konrad Plautz (Austria), Herbert Fandel (Germany), Kyros Vassaras (Greece), Roberto Rosetti (Italy), Pieter Vink (Holland), Manuel Mejuto Gonzalez (Spain), Peter Frojdfelt (Sweden) and Massimo Busacca (Switzerland).4Webb will be hoping to avoid the notoriety of Graham Poll, England's representative during the 2006 World Cup. During the final Group F match between Australia and Croatia, Poll showed Josip Simunic three yellow cards before sending him off.5Scotland's Craig Thomson has been chosen as one of eight fourth officials for the tournament.6
