Kennedy (pictured to the right of Kevin Phillips) has returned for further assessment and treatment after picking up a meniscus tear to his knee in last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Reading.

He has been ruled out for three to five weeks.

On-loan Fulham defender Elliot Omozusi will start in his place alongside Gary Doherty, while boss Glenn Roeder has some good news as Leroy Lita will return up front.

Lita missed the defeat at his parent club thanks to the terms of his loan but will start against the Addicks - where he enjoyed a similar loan spell at the end of last season.

Matty Pattison is still recovering from a dead leg, but new signing Carl Cort is likely to feature again with a behind closed doors friendly arranged to help him get back to full fitness.

Centre-half Dejan Stefanovic has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Antoine Sibierski is out with a foot injury, but could be back for the Christmas run of games.
