Swindon have bid to make Sheffield United midfielder Gary Speed their new manager.
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell confirmed the speculation regarding Speed's future and said he would not stand in the former Bolton, Newcastle, Everton and Leeds man's way should he choose to leave Bramall Lane.
"There has been contact from Swindon with Gary and I have told him that whatever he does is fine by me," Blackwell told the Blades website.
"He is injured at the moment, could face a long rehabilitation and is 39 years of age, but he has options on the table.
"It will be up to Gary to decide, and I am already having to get used to being without him as a player which is a massive blow."
Former Wales skipper Speed is expected to quit playing after being told surgery on a back problem will rule him out for the season.

Come on Gary we know you can get back to full fitness, give us a great midfield next season. Chap Blade
Good luck to Gary. If he becomes half the Manager that he was as a player then he will be a bit special
Hope you stay with us Gary, although we couldn't see the best of you, you're still appreciated. Wishing you the very best of luck of whatever you decide to do.
Woodhouse Blade
