West Brom manager Tony Mowbray is "talking to clubs every day about potential loans", with Leroy Lita and Oscar Trejo on his wish list.
Mowbray is looking to strengthen his attacking options having lost Ishmael Miller to injury for the rest of the Premier League season.
The Baggies boss admits his team are lacking in top-flight experience, but does not have any money to spend in January's transfer window so will have to rely on loan deals.
Mowbray has previously been linked with young Arsenal pair Carlos Vela and Jay Simpson, but has reportedly reignited his interest in Real Mallorca hitman Trejo and Reading striker Lita.
Albion tried to sign Trejo in the summer and were put off by Mallorca's asking price - but he has struggled to get a game this season so they may be open to loaning him out for the remainder of the season.
England Under-21 international Lita, meanwhile, is on loan at Championship strugglers Norwich, and would no doubt relish a return to the top tier.
"We talk to clubs every day about potential loans," said Mowbray. "There is nothing concrete that can be done at this stage.
"You might get a manager saying yes and then he picks up two injuries on Boxing Day. Things change on a daily basis.
"What I would say is that I'm not sitting here waiting for Lionel Messi.
"The transfer window is an exciting time for the media but it's not that exciting for me."
Albion are bottom of the table heading into Sunday's game with Manchester City at The Hawthorns, and have scored just 12 goals in 17 league games.

baggies better start preparing for the championship..tbh u were down before the season even started..
Leave the baggies manager mowbray alone! Hes trying with limited funds! How can there be no money at the baggies? (They have been up and down more times than the big dipper!) surely they would have had money when they won the league and were promoted ? The problems they are having at the baggies have been going on for many years and the people who are responsible for these problems is the board of directors. The fatcap business men who have no ambition ,no interest in football, only interested in making money for themselves. We need genuine people on the board of directors who have great ambition for the club, who want success for the club, fans and the baggies loyal supporters.
The board dont want success! They just want to keep ticking over!Thats not good enough!
are these the players of great experience he say's he needs......tomy mo...make up your mind...........................or bugger off
