A 74-69 overtime win over Ljubliana meant Lottomatica Roma pulled two points clear of DKV Joventut to cement second place in Group C of EuroLeague.
Dominant first and third quarters helped the Italians lead for the majority of the match, but a late capitulation left the scored tied at 62-62 at the end of regulation play.
But Roma turned it back around in overtime by scoring 12 points to Ljubliana's seven.
Sani Becirovic top-scored for the hosts with 23.
Roma are behind leaders Tau Ceramica on points difference after they won 73-68 at Alba Berlin.
Only three points separate top from bottom in Group D, and Panionos stayed at the foot of the table after a crushing 64-78 home defeat to Turkish rivals Efes Pilsen.
The win puts Efes third while Greeks are marooned from fourth-placed Partizan Belgrade and fifth-placed Armani Jeans Milano on account of a -92 points deficit.
In Group A, winless Le Mans stay bottom after losing 73-87 at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Unicaja are comfortably behind group leaders Olympiacos on points difference after a 72-68 win at home to Air Avellino.
There was only one match in Group B, as bottom club Zalgiris Kaunas earned a first win of the group stage with a 79-68 victory over Asseco Prokom Sopot.
