Grimsby manager Alan Buckley blasted his side's inept first-half display at Dagenham as their run of four successive league wins ended. The Mariners laboured in the opening 45 minutes and despite showing signs of improvement after the break, they could not fashion a goal.
"We were dire in the first half, I had a word or two at half-time and the only thing I can say about the first half was that we kept a clean sheet," he said.
"After a bright start to the second half I thought we might nick something, but the longer it went on they stated to come back into it.
"We had to defend, had to roll our sleeves up, be resilient, dig in and come away with a point.
"It's a really hard place to come, in the past we might not have got something from this so it's good that we did this time."
