Jackett upbeat despite defeat

Sun 20 Jan, 05:15 PM

Manager Kenny Jackett was pleased his side's "team spirit" as he tried to take the positives from Millwall's 1-0 home defeat to Tranmere. The visitors executed the perfect smash-and-grab victory thanks to Antony Kay's 87th-minute header to leave the Lions in the drop zone.

Jackett said: "We have got to take a result like this on the chin. I thought there were some good individual performances with a good team spirit.

"We have shaded the first half but the second half was all us and I couldn't really see them scoring. I am scratching my head after that one but at the end of the day results count and they have nicked that important goal."

Jackett, who saw striker Ben May depart for Scunthorpe on Friday, added: "We lost Ben but I was surprised that he didn't go at the start of the transfer window because it had been arranged.

"He made it clear that he wanted to go and we got a decent fee that we wouldn't have got in the summer."
