Ligue 1 - Mancini wants Tevez out now

Fri, 20 Jan 11:26:00 2012

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini hopes the Carlos Tevez saga will end "very quickly" as a return to the Etihad Stadium is "impossible".

Carlos Tevez - 0

Tevez's advisor Kia Joorabchian has now opened preliminary discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move for the former City captain and the league leaders have also been involved in recent dialogue with Inter Milan over the 27-year-old striker.

Mancini said: "I hope this will finish very quickly. I don't know [the latest]. I think he has talked with PSG and Inter, but not Milan. I hope for him everything can finish very quickly."

Tevez has not played for City since September and is currently in his native Argentina awaiting a possible transfer.

Mancini was asked on Friday if Tevez could return to the City team if a move fails to materialise before the end of the January transfer window.

The Italian, speaking at a press conference to preview Sunday's Premier League clash with Tottenham, said: "This is impossible. Carlos doesn't want to stay.

"It is important for him to start to play because he is a football player. It is now three months that he hasn't played and this is not good for him."

City defender Nedum Onuoha is edging closer to a possible move to QPR.

The 25-year-old academy graduate appeared as a substitute in the Premier League leaders' win at Wigan on Monday but has otherwise struggled for opportunities since returning from a loan at Sunderland.

Mancini said: "I don't know [the latest]. They were talking yesterday. Maybe today or tomorrow, it is possible. Nedum deserves to play. He is a good guy and if he stays here he will maybe play one or two games. That is not enough for a young player."

  2. personally i hope he comes to leeds, but.....

clearly i aint a man utd fan, but when these oh so brilliant players leave man utd, i say to myself, they must be fed up of winning medals. ronaldo (will he won't he win la liga? - he coulda won the premiership year after year) tevez (got fed up with being a sub, now he's not even a sub) beckham (the contents of his underwear allegedly weigh more than his wife)the exception is that delightful centre back pique they wouldn't play who had to go to barca to play in the world's best team. if you leave man utd when you are at the top, the only way is down.

this is true of other clubs too - torres and chelsea is a case in point, or is this lack of gelling due to something else?

  3. #4 remind me how much Harry 'off-shore' redknap valued Bale at????

    greedy???

    £150 million for Bale
    £80 million for Ronaldo
    £50 mil for Torres

Spud, Manure and Loserpooh are the ones inflating the prices fella. Check your facts before you spout off Graham

  4. problem is we are 1 striker short. 1 man of our 25 man squad short.

Sooner this is done .. the quicker we can get in a replacement

  6. I hope they can let him go now. Its gone on long enough. They are never going to get along. I'm just tired of seeing it in the news

  7. Tevez never knew money was not everything , man united was his dream

  8. Mr Levy is doubtless too cautious for it ever to happen; but I bet Tevez could play perfectly happily at White Hart Lane. The fundamental truth is that self-opinionated autocrats rarely make for good man-managers.

  12. I bet he wants him out, he only has 11 days to buy someone new and he needs the cash. Unfortunately 25 million doesn't appear to be enough money for our greedy Italian

  13. Get rel #2, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about, Tevez has brought all this stuff on himself, nobody else even at Man U too. Mancini a failed Prem manager? He has won the FA Cup, he has got them into the Champions League, and far in other competitions, he has got them 1st in the Premier League and stayed there for a long time all in 18 months, how that is a fail I'll never know.

  14. Comment hidden due to its low rating. Show

Mancini has not come out of this affair very well. Tevez is an excellent player who had no problems on this scale at either West Ham or Man U. It seems likely that both player and manager are equally to blame and the owners are not likely to forget how much money the row has cost the club. If Man City do not win the league I think Mancini will be on his way back to Italy as yet another failed Prem manager.
