Diamond set to miss out

Oldham expect to be without defender Zander Diamond when they host Exeter.

The Scot was ruled out of Wednesday's 2-1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final first-leg defeat to Chesterfield in worrying circumstances when he landed awkwardly during the warm-up and laid motionless before receiving lengthy treatment.

The 26-year-old was taken to the Royal Chesterfield Hospital, where his neck was X-rayed, and remained in overnight for observation before returning home. He is due to be assessed by Oldham's medical staff on the eve of Saturday's match.

Teenager James Tarkowski deputised for Diamond and is expected to continue in his absence.

Latics could be without captain Dean Furman once more after the midfielder missed the trip to the b2net Stadium with an ankle injury.

Striker Reuben Reid (thigh) stepped up his recovery from a lengthy absence by playing an hour in the midweek reserve defeat to Macclesfield and could contest a place on the substitutes' bench.
