Reading striker Kevin Doyle admits the Republic of Ireland is buzzing with excitement over the appointment of Giovanni Trapattoni.Trapattoni guided Juventus to six Serie A titles, a European Cup, two UEFA Cups, a European Cup Winners' Cup and two Copa Italia trophies and won titles with Inter, Bayern Munich, Benfica and FC Red Bull Salzburg.

Italian speaking Doyle said: "His appointment is good news. He's been a very successful manager. He's a big name and the whole of Ireland is buzzing over it.

"The FAI did get stick for taking their time, but they have come up trumps. People have got over the waiting because they have seen who they've got.

"It is something to really look forward to in our next match at home to Serbia. We will all be on our toes like the English were with Fabio Capello."
