Leeds midfielder Alan Thompson will return to Elland Road when his loan spell at League One rivals Hartlepool expires this week. The 34-year-old, who has made six appearances for Danny Wilson's side, will play his last match for Pools against Northampton on Friday.
Thompson has been in and out of the Leeds starting line-up this season due to injury and was sent out on loan by former manager Dennis Wise to recover match fitness.
But new boss Gary McAllister is keen to assess Thompson for himself and has told Wilson the loan spell will not be extended.
McAllister said: "The thing that comes to mind when you mention Alan is set-pieces.
"If you work on the quality of set-pieces you get rewards and Alan's got that delivery."
