Meggo hits back at 'strange' Atletico

Wed 20 Feb, 01:30 PM

Bolton boss Gary Megson concedes Atletico Madrid's 'strange' behaviour in the build-up to Thursday's UEFA Cup clash has left him exasperated.Bolton's 1-0 win at the Reebok Stadium clearly left a bitter taste, as the Spaniards' level of sportsmanship has been brought into question this week.

Atletico posted Bolton's entire trip itinerary - including their flight number and arrival time, plus the name of their hotel and training schedule - on their official website.

Megson has been less than amused by Atletico's behaviour and is desperate to guide his side to the right result in the Spanish capital.

"I don't know what anybody is trying to achieve by doing that. It's an absolute nonsense," Megson told Sky Sports News, when quizzed on the itinerary leak.

"We've never even contemplated putting any one else's itinerary on our website. It's very strange. The goings on since the result last week have been strange.

"The criticism of the referee was nonsense as well. It was called British officiating and that was the reason we beat Atletico - and yet the referee was from Denmark.

"There's been a lot going on but we just want to get over there and hopefully come back with a good result."

Ill-feeling between the two clubs has been fuelled by the actions of Sergio Aguero, who was dismissed for spitting in a volatile first-leg clash.
