Ritchie happy to grind out results

Wed 20 Feb, 12:15 PM

Huddersfield manager Andy Ritchie admitted he was happy to "win ugly" as his Terriers side claimed their fifth win in six league games.Ritchie saw his side bounce back from Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Chelsea with a 1-0 home win over Millwall thanks to Luke Beckett's first-half penalty.

Ritchie said: "It wasn't very pretty, but all that mattered was the result. I think there were a few tired players from chasing Chelsea at the weekend.

"It was a bit ugly, but we managed to get the three points.

"I'm very pleased to win, but the players are disappointed because they thought they should have played better which is a good thing.

"If we have to be ugly to grind out results then that's what we will do. I think the results we've had have been because we've had a settled side, especially the back four."
