Swans boss still holds final belief

Wed 20 Feb, 11:45 AM

Manager Roberto Martinez believes Swansea's bid to reach the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final is still alive despite a 1-0 defeat to MK Dons.Jemal Johnson's second-half winner was enough to edge the League Two leaders closer to the Wembley final.

Swansea were left wondering how they slipped to the shock defeat after former goalkeeper Willy Gueret frustrated the Welsh hosts throughout.

Martinez said: "It was frustrating to lose but we still have everything to play for. Willy pulled out a string of fine saves and it was one of those games.

"We should have scored in the first half but couldn't take our chances. I still think we have a great chance of winning the final. There's a long way to go. It's still half-time in this tie and we must keep that mind.

"We want to get to Wembley as it would be a great day out for the players, supporters and everyone at Swansea. We have to make it possible next week in the second leg."
