Southend manager Steve Tilson is "disappointed" that striker Alex Revell is set to miss a significant portion of the season through injury.Revell, a £150,000 January signing from Brighton, missed Saturday's 2-1 win against Bournemouth and is now likely to require surgery on a troublesome hernia problem.
Tilson told the club's official website: "We're pretty certain Alex has a hernia and is going to be out for a month.
"It's obviously disappointing because he's only just come to the club but it's best to get it sorted right now.
"I had a hernia myself in my career and it causes you a lot of discomfort. You can't reach passes you would normally get to and it really does affect you. I think we've seen that with Alex in the games he's played for us so far.
"He's an all-action player but we haven't seen him at his best. He's been sore and aching and I don't think it's something he can play through any longer."
