Skipper David Wetherall is excited by his new coaching challenge after announcing his decision to quit playing at the end of the season. The 37-year-old Bradford, caretaker-boss at Valley Parade after Colin Todd's departure a year ago, is to work alongside manager Stuart McCall and assistant Wayne Jacobs as coach.

Wetherall said: "This isn't a decision I've made overnight. At my age I can no longer do the things I used to do and I feel the time is right to call it a day at the end of this season.

"It's time for a younger player to come in and I'm very much looking forward to a new challenge.

"I hope to play a big role in helping the club move forward. I think Stuart's been pushing to get another member of staff on board and the timing is right to put everything into place."
