Daniel Cousin has admitted he is now expecting to stay at Rangers for the rest of the season rather than move to Fulham.

A £3 million transfer to Craven Cottage has been agreed, but Cousin is waiting on FIFA to rule on the deal.

The striker played for Lens earlier this season before joining Rangers in August and requires special dispensation from FIFA to complete his switch to the Premier League.

The world governing body may not announce their decision until next week, but Cousin already appears resigned to staying at Ibrox until the summer.

"There are three months left until the end of the season and in my head I'm staying in Glasgow," he told the Daily Record.

"I've already said that to the manager, but I haven't started a game in a month."

Meanwhile, Gers assistant manager Ally McCoist feels it is 'a bonus' to have Cousin available for Thursday's UEFA Cup tie away to Panathinaikos.

He was booed when he came on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw in the first leg at Ibrox, but could play some part in the return in Greece.

"It's a bonus that we've got Daniel available," McCoist said. "The more players we have available means we've got a better chance.

"Daniel's fitness wasn't a concern, but we're aware we have to keep it up and he's being doing extra training and his stuff with the lads.

"So I wouldn't imagine it'll be a problem."
