"The plan was always to make the World Indoors my opener so I will not compete before," the World Championship silver medal winning decathlete said.

"I am just getting prepared making sure everything is ready for competition.

"I'm particularly pleased about my pole vault which was one of my weaker areas but the training is going well there and I am putting it together to make sure all will be well.

"There are no new faces, I am pretty familiar with all the guys who will be there and after my performance from the world championships last year, I am confident and looking forward to finishing in the top three."

The 28-year-old last competed indoors more than two years ago.

In January 2006 he completed a heptathlon in Clemson with a 5896 score, but his Jamaican record is 6035 - set in 2005 - when he was an NCAA winner.
